The Activities Assistant position requires that the candidate be actively enrolled in an accredited music therapy degree program.
Candidates participating at the Bachelor’s degree level need to be in their junior or senior year of studies, whereas Master’s degree candidates require one year of music therapy studies completed.
The Activities Assistant provides music-based activities to individual and group clients residing around the MusicWorks service area. The MusicWorks Activities Assistant would conduct up to 60-minute music sessions with an individual or group of clients. The Activities Assistant is responsible for planning, executing and documenting all client sessions under the training and supervision of a MA, MT-BC. The hours worked would not be counted towards fieldwork / internship hours at the academic program attended.
All music equipment provided by MusicWorks, with the exception of the MusicWorks Activities Assistant’s guitar and cell phone. MusicWorks Activities Assistant is responsible for the safety, upkeep and cleanliness of music equipment.
Work hours would be weekdays late afternoons and evenings, as well as weekends. The candidate would be hired on an hourly basis with hourly rate determined and agreed upon based on experience level. The candidate must have reliable transportation to travel independently to and from client locations and the MusicWorks treatment center.
