Lori O’Leary, Executive Director

Lori O'LearyLori O’Leary provides MusicWorks with 26 years of general business experience and the unique ability to build business relationships.

After majoring in Biology at Vassar College, she worked as an electronmicroscopist for the Department of Cell Biology at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.  Research concentrated on myosin microfibrils to determine how the muscle contracts and was funded by a grant from the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

She left the scientific world to pursue her Master’s in Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business, majoring in Marketing with a minor concentration in Finance.  She began a retail career with Macy’s, then quickly moved onto clothing product development and sourcing with Associated Merchandising Corporation (AMC).  She traveled to Asia and Europe to negotiate production deals with vendors for department store chains such as Bonwit Teller, Strawbridge & Clothier, Wanamaker’s, Dayton Hudson, Carson Prairie Scott and the Federated Stores.

Lori relocated to the Philadelphia suburbs in 1990.  She was recruited by The Franklin Mint in 1993, where, over the next 10 years, her responsibilities included new product development and marketing, Artist Relations, and Licensing.

In 2002, Lori joined her husband in launching MusicWorks, the Delaware Valley’s premier music therapy service provider.  She converted the company to a 501(c)(3) corporation in 2008.  Lori and Jerry selected a strong, hands-on Board of Directors to launch the nonprofit.  Lori continues to be the driving force behind all business decisions at MusicWorks!
