MusicWorks JAMS Policies

MusicWorks JAMS introduces interactive, music classes designed for children from birth to five years of age. The program encourages hands-on music making, dance and movement activities for young children and their parents, families and caregivers. Classes are divided into two groups: birth up to 3 years and 3 to 5 years. Children are exposed to age-appropriate music in fun-filled, forty-five minute sessions. Theme-oriented activities provide basic, early education enrichment opportunities. We explore letters, numbers, shapes, sizes, colors, feelings, senses, words and ideas through creative and innovative music activities. The children bring along their parents or caregivers to take part in the time-tested, shared format.

At MusicWorks, we want the time that you and your family spend with us to be fun, creative and enjoyable.

  • Please arrive 5 minutes early for your child to get ready for class.

  • Be sure to dress comfortably.

  • We ask that you do not bring food or drink into the class.  If your child needs a drink, please step outside of the class and come back when you are finished.  Please make sure that any drink brought into MusicWorks is in a bottle or a sippy cup with a spill proof lid.

With the growing number of children facing severe food allergies, we thank you in advance for your concern for their safety.

We also request that parents not bring coffee, tea, soda, water bottles or bottled beverages into the class.

While in class, please pay attention to your child and actively support your child’s music experience.  Being a strong role model to your child is important for each parent during music class.  We ask that you participate in what your child is doing and help him/her enjoy each music activity.  Do not be surprised if it takes several sessions for your child to become comfortable with the music sessions.  The understanding and patience of the parent in class is key to facilitating musical learning and growth.  We encourage parents to socialize before and after class but not during class time.

Registration – Registration is on a first come, first served basis with priority given to current families.  We will take new additions to the class during the entire term.  Each new student will be charged based on the number of classes to be attended.

Siblings under eight months as of the first day of class or date of registration are free of charge with a paying member.  A sibling over the age of eight months will need to pay according to rate outlined on the registration form.

A full refund will be given if you withdraw before the first day of the term.  If you withdraw on or after the first day of the term, a refund will be given for the unused portion of the sessions.

Inclement Weather Policy – MusicWorks will follow Haverford Township School District closings.  You can also visit our website to check for closing information or partial day closings.  (www.MusicWorksWonders.org)

If class is missed due to inclement weather a makeup can be arranged in another age-appropriate class during that particular term.  If there is no other class offered, we will do our best to reschedule.

Cell phones should be turned off or put on “vibrate” during the session and left out of sight.  A parent or caregiver paying attention to their cell phone or texting is a distraction to the children, other parents in the session and to the facilitator conducting the session.  If a parent or caregiver receives an emergency call or text in the middle of a music session, we ask that you step out of the room to attend to the call.

Makeup Class Policy – No refunds or discounts will be given for missed classes.  In the event of teacher illness or inclement weather, a makeup class will be scheduled.  You will be able to schedule two makeup classes during the TEN-week session.  No makeups will be carried over into the next session and 24-hour advance notice for makeups and cancellation for makeups is required.  Nonregistered siblings are allowed to attend makeup classes, however, there will be a charge for the extra child.

Illness – any child who has had illness, fever, or vomiting within 24 hours of class should not attend that day.  We appreciate your help in minimizing the spread of infection.  Please feel free to use the hand sanitizer in our studio.

Cleanliness and safety with music instruments – We strive to keep musical instruments clean and safe.  If you should become aware that your child has placed a musical instrument in their mouth or other unsanitary area, please let the facilitator know so that the instrument can be put aside to be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

Behavior – It is the parent’s responsibility for the behavior of their child.  If your child requires a time out, please take your child outside the class and return when you and your child are ready.

Returned checks – If a check is returned for any reason there will be a $20 fee.

Please do not hesitate to contact us by email or phone if we can be of further help.  We look forward to having you and your children enjoy their time at MusicWorks.

And please, don’t forget to SING and have FUN.
